Senior Advisor

Current

National

Senior Advisor in the EA’s national Coastal Resilience Team, responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Habitat Compensation and Restoration Programme (HCRP), supporting Area Leads in the development and delivery of their respective project pipelines, managing and communicating risk and working with external partners. The HCRP delivers compensatory habitat, primarily for the loss of designated intertidal habitat and secondary compensation requirements, which arise from the Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs) and Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategies (FCERMS) capital works and resulting impacts of sea level rise and coastal squeeze. The HCRP therefore enables the EA to meet its obligations under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 (as amended). The HCRP also provides a useful framework with which to work with partners to move beyond compensation and support the wider recovery and restoration of estuarine and coastal (E&C) habitats. To date, the HCRP has created: 1,601 ha of inter-tidal habitat, 468 ha of freshwater grazing marsh and 292 ha of other E&C habitats.
