Led the operations and governance function within the innovation space to enable the development of a range of products to complement the Society’s wider portfolio. Part of the innovation leadership team developing and executing innovation strategy for the Society in response to board and executive committee requirements.Specific projects included:• Development and implementation of a rapid innovation framework to enable speed to market for protypes in a regulated group environment. This was novel to the Society and represented significant change. Required stakeholder engagement across the full range of SMF and other control policies.• Led implementation of lessons from innovative solutions into the main business to deliver improvements in both internal processes and customer services, resulting in efficiency gains and cost savings.• Management of a fast-growing team across a broad suite of operational areas, including finance, risk and controls, procurement, recruitment and HR, including developing colleagues to progress to more senior positions across these areas.• Provision of operational support to a multi-skilled, multi-located digital team of 50+ colleagues using a data-led feedback approach, enabling Society-leading levels of output and productivity.• Communication and presentation of MI to senior executive stakeholders to demonstrate the success of the team and the scalability of our operating model. • Day to day management of a seven-figure budget, including responsibility for operational resourcing, supplier relationships and financial projections for projects and BAU work.

CFO at a legal tech start-up delivering smarter contracts and collaboration tools for automated contract lifecycle management, from negotiation and execution to monitoring, variation and enforcement.

Led the finance function at a fintech start-up developing a smart property register to provide digital control and transfer of real-world assets and legal enforceability for smart contracts.Specific projects included:• Execution of day-to-day financial management, compliance and reporting in a group structure.• Production and implementation of processes to standardise the finance function with a focus on departmental budgeting to facilitate board oversight.• Development of a finance governance framework to control the mechanisms and responsibilities for expenditure. • Integration of this framework with legal and risk functions to provide a coherent governance structure to guide senior management in a growing business.

Audited financial statements and operational controls for a variety of clients in the asset and wealth management sector. Specific projects included:• Consolidation of work carried out by multiple national PwC firms for UK regulatory filing as part of the management of European financial audit work for an international asset manager• Co-ordination of the audit of a subsidiary of a large US financial technology outsourcer, which involved both several UK teams and a group reporting team in the USA.

Founded a distinctive social enterprise seeking to increase the exposure of legitimate business opportunities in Africa to international businesses. Specific projects included:• Creation of a contractual framework to underpin the delivery of projects in Africa under the jurisdiction of the English legal system trusted by international companies.• Formulation and delivery of a networking strategy which grew a database of projects totalling over USD 15 billion from African governments and NGOs in the first 24 months of the business.

Expanded and developed a consultancy practice advising clients across numerous sectors on legal matters, including business formation and operation. Specific projects included:• Execution of the diverse legal requirements of a £150,000 SEIS-funding round for a start-up media business with personal and professional investors, which was successfully concluded in May 2015.• Development of bespoke contracts as part of marketing and merchandising plans for a performing artist which expanded their social media footprint and made a profit alongside their 2012 tour.
