I first started out building homes with volunteers and teaching them the skills they needed to complete tasks. The homes were usually 900-1200 SF single story homes. I would estimate materials, find the land and work the deal, coordinate with subs to do some of the work that was not volunteer friendly. I would work with the office staff to coordinate volunteer efforts and set up events. I would set up deliveries, order materials and coordinate site placement. At the end of the project I would walk the homeowner through their new home and show them all the features and how to use the mechanical systems.While teaching at Pitt I was in charge of roughly 60-70 students ranging in abilities and backgrounds. I had two instructors working with me to create a educational experience that would aid our students with their future. I would work with the students in the classroom and onsite teaching them all i could to better their education. I taught estimating, carpentry, OSHA, and Introductory Mechanical systems. We also had a cabinet making class that was open to the public and a free range class students could bring projects in and use the facilities to build their ideas. The program I was in charge of had 72+ curriculum hours and the main focus was a live project house between 1500-1700 SF depending on the size. I also brought the relationship between classroom and non-profit when we built houses with Habitat for Humanity.Currently I am working on the Apple Campus in Cupertino and during my time here I have been part of a team that has covered roughly 500,000 SF over four buildings with four levels each. A complex and ever changing site with a unique mechanical system and never before seen mechanical, electrical and finishes. It has been a one of a kind building and a unique experience that I will never forget. I have been over the ID studio for the past few months managing the build and overseeing all of its complexities.
