His road to success as an influential voice in financial literacy is a testament to self-determination. In 2005, as a college graduate in his hometown of Milwaukee, Roundtree set out for Las Vegas with big dreams. He quickly discovered the harsh realities of bad credit when his applications to lease apartments were denied time and time again—Roundtree found himself homeless and living out of his car. Despite the challenges he faced in a new city, Roundtree was inspired by the wisdom of a mentor, “ Eventually credit will become the new dollar.”Armed with his mentor’s advice and fueled by a passion to build strong credit, Roundtree began diligently educating himself about credit and personal finance. He took courses on credit laws, regulations, operative standards, and more until he eventually became a FICO certified credit consultant. More than a decade later, Roundtree tours the country as a notable financial advisor, author, and speaker, adding Tedx to his resume. Having developed a innovative, 26-lesson tutorial for classroom and online platforms, and a 31-video series based on a continuing credit education curriculum, Roundtree has lead more than 700 workshops and seminars nationwide. Still finding time to give back to his community, Roundtree co-founded a non-profit organization, Commertree, helping unserved children and families in the greater Las Vegas, Nevada area.
