Set-up & co-ordination of up to 40 HD & SD lines records per day for 4 live ESPN sports channels. Receiving feeds via fibre links (6 lines from the USA & 8 local to the UK) and FTP file delivery. Ensuring media is encoded to correct configuration and in compliance with legal broadcasting standards. 1st point of contact between 3rd party MCR and playout facilities as well as BT Tower and ESPN headquarters in the USA.Preparing recorded media for transmission from full length sports events to highlights packages and magazine programmes. Full responsibility for daily asset management including server space maintenance, archive management, incoming & outgoing FTP file deliveries, media transcoding & full technical QC of media before transmission. Producing and delivering low resolution ‘browse’ files for content viewing.Line-up & preparation for live events in relay with OB team, audio scanner, MCR & on-site engineers. Utilising technical lines drawings and providing fault diagnosis & resolution prior to live TX. Projects include weekly Barclays Premier League Football fixtures, Aviva Premiership Rugby and the FA Cup.Managing ingest team to deliver content as required across all platforms. Active participant and chairman of strategic development team meetings. Reporting directly to Operations Manager. Working closely with the client to ensure efficient delivery of all content.

Member of the 'launch team' for ESPN channels broadcasting in the UK. Live sports transmission control for ESPN (UK, Europe, Middle East & Africa) using Omnibus G2 & G3 automation, Omneon media servers, Clarity graphics insertion systems, Miranda Imagestore mixing desk and 2-way gallery talkback. Live transmissions including NFL, NHL, MLB, FA Cup & Premier League football, European football and UFC. Full disaster recovery & fault diagnosis. I was promoted internally from this position after 1 year.

Operating live transmissions for 4 Setanta Sports Channels broadcasting in the UK from Input Media. Working with Omneon media servers & Pebble Beach automation. Responsibilities included Live TX (including Premier League football, PGA Tour Golf, NBA, boxing & cricket) up-to-the minute schedule manipulation/time-out, appending & checking of future schedules, media transfers (Avid exports to Omneon server), media management (ingest, purge, lines record), EPG updates, full fault diagnosis and daily logging, general monitoring of TX outputs.

Supervising a busy 14 channel server-based transmission operation with integrated on-site MCR. Supervision and appraisal of TX staff including timekeeping, attendance and holiday. Using Pinnacle Mediastream TX Servers through Harris automation and ‘Masstech’ data archive. Responsible for server space management, transfer of material between edit suites and transmission servers, producing missing media lists and chasing up content with operations. Media management involving file type conversions (e.g. MOV to MPEG), full media database management and update, tape ingest, QC of imported media, server capacity management. Producing daily status reports. Maintaining relations with clients and other control centres including BT Tower & Globecast.

Editing of interstitial and freeview elements to be broadcast on PB TV UK networks. Duties included strict adherence to broadcast legal video/audio specifications and OFCOM broadcasting standards, linear editing of daily interstitial tapes comprising of promos, stings, channel graphics, commercial content, filler material and full length features. Maintenance of progress report documentation, working 7 days in advance.
