About Will Thompson

Translating analytical technologies into routine use requires chemists, biochemists, statisticians and engineers to work closely as a team to integrate their work in new collaborative ways. I have dedicated my career in analytical chemistry to understand what aspects of my discipline are most beneficial to this challenge, and building platform technologies which are informative, cost-effective, and analytically robust. Advances in mass spectrometry and separations science over the past two decades have made this an extremely robust quantitative approach for probing molecular biology, and I enjoy working closely with scientists across many disciplines apply rigorous analytical study design for measurement of proteins and metabolites via mass spectrometry. I am committed to making the best match of need to the tools available to answer the particular biological question at hand, and take particular pleasure in developing new analytical techniques where no current approach seems particularly well-suited to the challenge.
