• Part of a team involved in writing and implementing new features and enhancements, and investigating defects and finding solutions using an Agile development methodology (Scrum and test-driven development). Languages.
• Developed enhancements to a staff schedule generator, meeting all requirements and constraints, resulting in generating solutions more quickly.
• Worked closely with an internal client to identify desirable features for the schedule generator. Types of changes included: usability issues, additional reporting and customer-initiated features resulting in greater.
• Investigated performance issues. Recommended and implemented changes to data structures and processing algorithms to improve performance.
• Initiated development of a row checker which identified where a manually created schedule violated rules. This provided customers with increased confidence in their schedules.
• Designed and developed new features for a staff scheduling system based on specifications. Used automated FIT and unit tests to ensure that the current changes worked correctly and to facilitate future changes.

• Wrote refinements to an automated staff scheduling system using ILOG Solver and Borland C++
• Served as a resource for junior members of the team with regard to programming and domain knowledge.

• Coordinated the work of up to four programmer analysts and consultants to meet project deadlines and company objectives.
• Managed the conversion of the Milk Recording System from an IBM mainframe to a PC network (150,000 lines of COBOL and REXX). This resulted in quicker processing times and lower operational costs.
• Developed a bar code scanning system to identify the sample bottles at the company lab which dramatically reduced the amount of manual data entry required and improved accuracy.
• Set up the billing system based on data from the mainframe which was manipulated in dBASE and sent to ACCPAC.
• Installed the Milk Recording System and provided training to staff at two international sites (Zimbabwe and Egypt).

• Responsible for the entire project cycle (analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation and support) of a variety of engineering systems. Occasional supervision of one or two programmers.
• Involved in acquiring a GIS for the City. Made modifications to a CAD package on a PDP 11.
• Part of a team which implemented a new costing system. Converted several small systems from the previous costing system. Designed and programmed a variety of management reports.
• Served as technical expert to the department for the mainframe environment (IBM - VM/CMS, FORTRAN, FOCUS, REXX) and for PC's (MS-DOS, Lotus 1-2-3, dBASE).
• Aside from the typical analysis and programming work, I was involved in a study for the Parking Enforcement Branch. Based on a study done a year earlier, I made recommendations for a new study, arranged for the data.
• Wrote a simulation program for waste haulage from a transfer station to the sanitary landfill.
