The Short: I am skilled in accounting and finance, and I crave process improvement.The Long: The foundation for my success is my top tier business education from BYU. The context has helped me learn and develop necessary skills very quickly. One way this is evidenced is by my 94.5 average on the difficult CPA exams passing all 4 within 5 months.Another important aspect of my experience is my broad background working in a variety of industries and roles. Every position has taught me important and widely applicable skills. My conflict resolution skills learned from working at Marriott International have helped me to better serve my customers (either external or internal) in every position I have held.As an auditor I was given a lot of responsibility early. I led a purchase accounting audit for a public company acquisition in my first year as an auditor. I led the full audit team the subsequent year. This experience of structuring an audit from scratch for a public company gave me the opportunity to document many technical accounting topics and build a strong working knowledge of GAAP, controls, and complex accounting processes.My stop at GCI in Alaska was focused on FP&A. My job responsibilities were focused on project cost control assisting on massive capital projects to build out 10G networks, switching capabilities, and other Fiber laying within the difficult Alaska terrain. This taught me a lot about healthy project management, and fundamentals in forecasting as well as project accounting. I also learned to use Planning Analytics Workspace and became familiar with OLAP database design, automation, and creative solution development.My current role at ASRC is FP&A Manager. My role involves some technical reporting responsibilities, but as I find ways to automate and simplify the technical aspects of my day-to-day, my time is increasingly spent on deeper analysis and internal consulting projects to automate & build efficiency. This feeds my drive for constant improvement. My position gives me lots of experience managing vendor relationships, picking projects & managing the implementation, developing forecasting models, as well as designing content and writing our management discussion for the annual and quarterly communications to shareholders. Working for ASRC is special as we have the added purpose of serving the Inupiat community while also having the complexities of a nearly top 100 private entity. (Acquisitions, investment, continuous improvement initiatives, etc)
