As the safety manager I was responsible for all the following Human Resource, Recruiter, Assist Terminal Manager, Operation Manager, Orientation Coordinator, Dispatcher and Trainer.Primary responsibilities decrease the number of accidents by promoting safety and developing safety standards.Interview and hire qualified drivers, owner operators and office staff and ensure everyone operated in compliance with all DOT regulations and Company Policies.Trained Office staff and drivers on the operation of the, xata, and taught the office staff how to complete dispatches and drivers to use the xata for logging their daily routine to comply with all DOT regulations of the HOS (Hours of Service)Coached and Counseled the workforce both verbal and written when required enforce disciplinary actions up to terminating anyone that had violated company policies and /or DOT regulations including the HOS (hours of Service) if the situation presented itself.Developed and maintained written and verbal communication between the drivers and office staff to retain drivers.Trained new and re-hired drivers on the company policies and procedures and conducted drive orientation making sure all drivers were legal to operate commercial motor vehicles.Worked with Local and State authorities to investigate all accidents and injuries.If the situation was warrant re-trained drivers that had preventable accidents.Completed ride-a-longs and road observations and store visits to make sure drivers were operating within the company standards and DOT regulations Completed yard checks on a regular basis to ensure all company vehicles (tractors and trailers were legal to operate and for any damage that may occurred).Completed yard observations on a daily basis to ensure that all pre and post trip inspections were being completed within DOT and Company guidelines, review all DVR's (driver vehicle reports).
