This was my first role in Software Implementation. Boris Software taught me a great deal in terms of the Implementation of Software.My role at Boris Software was to manage the implementation of the Boris System for new clients. My responsibilities as Implementation Manager were to scope and design the system with the new client through various workshops. Responsibilities also included getting hands on and building the system itself liaising with the client to ensure project milestones were met. Day to day duties of building the system included configuration on the Boris UI plus XML/SQL work and more.Once the system was built, ‘Go Live Day’ tended to include an onsite Face to Face Handover that would be conducted with all key Stakeholders.My technical background at both College and University helped me in my role when it came to building the Boris Software. Having vast knowledge of SQL based Databases and Microsoft Windows Serves amongst other tools was key to this role.

The Technical Support Analyst role within EMIS Group involved me dealing with first line queries from NHS practices regarding the EMIS software.

Xplore Ltd provides UK-based residential activity camps each Summer for individuals, sports teams and youth groups aged 6-18 from the UK and the rest of the world. I was a member of a 30-strong team responsible for over 400 students at a time. In addition to general duties, I was the designated leader for mountain-biking activities.Organisation: Part of my role included leading excursions to London. Ensuring that all students were accounted for whilst negotiating the tube, tourist attractions and busy streets required strong leadership and a constant assessment of the surrounding risks.Interpersonal Skills: I learned to communicate effectively with group leaders, colleagues, parents and students. It was essential to balance the competing interests of these parties and I now appreciate the importance of diplomacy in reaching a compromise that benefits everyone.Integrity: Students often challenge authority and part of my role included resolving disciplinary issues. It was important to remain impartial when faced with conflicting views. Taking action to preserve the welfare of the students was paramount. I gained the conviction to take such action even where those decisions were unpopular.

Personal assistant to the Enterprise manager – who was responsible for private lettings at an independent school during Summer holidays. This role required both manual and administrative skills.

Part-time work on evenings and weekends to help fund future university study. This was my first experience of work in the customer-driven service industry. I gained invaluable experience dealing with members of the public, some of whom were often challenging and/or intoxicated.Team-work: Whilst I had individual tasks, it was important to help other crew members when necessary. Mutual co-operation ensured that as a team, we could provide the best possible service to our customers.
