Although accountancy is not my profession, I have a keen interest in financial matters. As treasurer, I gained an in-depth understanding of accounting techniques.The role was wide ranging and involved keeping cash books, paying bills and staff wages, preparing VAT and PAYE returns, banking, and preparing the year end accounts for audit and adoption by the membership, as well as managing insurances, claims, grant applications, and the like.I made full use of online banking, and electronic submissions of HMRC documents for VAT and PAYE.

Direct line management and budgetary responsibility for property services section. Development and implementation of an asset management plan. Lead officer and budget holder on major capital schemes, including liaising with grant funders, and managing grant claims.Advising on professional and technical aspects of property matters. Identifying and addressing Health and Safety and risk management issues relating to land and property. Ensuring that assets are effectively maintained, utilised and disposed of.
