Hello,Welcome to my summary, I am William (aka Ryan). I have been working in the IT industry for 20+ years in various capacities. I was in the US Navy for 10 years as a Submarine Radioman (ET/ITS), where I first learned how to administer small/medium (~150 users) enterprise networks. I obtained my Security+ and Linux+ as part of the DOD 8570 IAT program (Level II). I was also an Instructor for Networking Security Vulnerability Technician (NSVT), with my forte being Linux/Unix implementations.After my military career and all of the practical experience I gained during it, I spent some time attending University to increase my theoretical knowledge of System Administration and Networking Security. After a few semesters, I decided that System/Network administration was not my passion and that the hands-on style of learning from the OJT(On the Job Training) in the Navy was really the fastest and best way for me to learn new things.It was during this time I had moved to Osaka, Japan. As most people do I spent some time teaching English, but alas, this was not for me.I have been working in Japan in IT for over 8 years now and I must say that fixing broken IT things is my raison d'etre. When I'm on the job, I get personal satisfaction from solving an issue (especially if I'm not the first to take a crack at it). In my personal time, I am always willing to take a look at my friend's PC/Laptop that's acting up. I can troubleshoot to the component level, and I often find and resolve issues that went unnoticed before. Given enough time and the appropriate tools, I can fix almost anything. To me, there's "broken" and then there's BROKEN.While I am very hands-on and often work solo, I do love small team and project work. IT Projects are like a puzzle to be solved for me. Whether I'm leading as a Senior Technician or just part of the team, I enjoy the challenge and time constraints. From standing up a new data center to upgrading/installing a new server on a ship anchored at sea, I endeavor to set realistic expectations when it comes to Customer/Client understanding. I also strive to conduct the work as efficiently as possible, often completing complex tasks well ahead of schedule. If there's a deadline that needs to be met or if the opportunity bit outside of the "norm", I am never afraid to step in and give it my all.If you've gotten this far, thank you for reading my summary.
