Scientist Ii
In the Functional Biocharacterization and Impurities team, I am responsible for developing QC release and characterization impurity and potency analytical methods for early and late-stage antibody biologics including biosimilars. I am also experienced in designing and executing method qualifications. Furthermore, I am responsible for presenting results to clients and authoring technical documents, as well as managing a direct report.
Scientist
In the Potency and Functional Characterization team, I was responsible for developing QC release and functional characterization assays for CAR T drug products. Specifically, I was experienced in designing, optimization, and executing vector potency and proliferative capacity methods. I was also responsible for communicating the results through technical documentation and presentations.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
In the laboratory of Dr. Joshua Woodward, I investigated the regulation of the cGAS-STING DNA sensing pathway. My first-author publication demonstrated that the proto-oncogene SRC restricts cGAS activity and is associated with reduced immune gene expression in primary tumors, suggesting SRC restricts cGAS anti-tumor signaling in cancer.
Graduate Research Assistant
In the laboratory of Dr. John Karijolich, my dissertation investigated how RNA binding proteins regulate antiviral and cell intrinsic innate immune responses. My first first-author publication demonstrated that the RNA-binding protein Fused-in-sarcoma (FUS) restricts KSHV reactivation from latency by restricting viral gene expression. My second first-author publication investigated how the RNA binding protein TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) regulates double-stranded RNA accumulation to prevent a lethal immune response.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
In the laboratory of Dr. Alexandra Sobeck, my project centered on determining the interaction domains of the central Fanconi Anemia protein FANCD2 and CtIP, an endonuclease involved in double-stranded DNA repair. Here, I learned numerous laboratory techniques including cell culture, molecular cloning, Western blots, PCR, protein expression, and protein purification.
Summer Intern
For three months during the summer of 2015, I worked as a summer intern at R&D Systems, a Bio-Techne Brand. During the internship, I primarily investigated signal sequences and their impact on protein expression and secretion for human BDNF, human TPO, and human Flt3-ligand in SF21 and High Five insect cell lines. The basis for the project was to determine the most efficient way to produce large amounts of the three proteins.
