Mr. Fields' legal practice is focused on derivative, corporate governance, and securities litigation. He has experience investigating company insiders’ misconduct and developing legal theories and strategies to recover for investors.

• Represent clients in securities fraud, corporate governance, and shareholder rights litigation • Research and draft briefs in federal and state court • Prepare discovery requests and interrogatories, as well as responses thereto, and manage document reviews • Conduct party and third-party depositions • Participate in mediation and settlement discussions with opposing counsel • Investigate and analyze potential securities fraud and corporate governance abuses • Draft securities class action and shareholder derivative complaints

• Researched and drafted bench memoranda and orders for the judges of the Second Circuit recommending dispositions in appeals and substantive motions. • Typical cases involved: civil rights (42 U.S.C. §1983/Bivens), constitutional law, employment discrimination (Title VII, ADA, ADEA), securities law, civil procedure, immigration, administrative law, arbitration, and class action certification. •Independently managed caseload, obtained necessary records, and produced an average of 3-4 memoranda per week. •Mentored a new staff attorney and a law student intern.

• Prosecuted non-felony non-jury offenses in Ithaca City Court, including traffic tickets, city code violations, and disorderly conduct. • Studied trial issues, including ethics, trial strategy and preparation, and plea negotiations.

• Researched and drafted memoranda on a variety of criminal and civil matters, including evidence and civil rights. • Participated in trial preparation and witness debriefing.
