Chief Development Officer of Shady Grove Medical Center Foundation and System-wide Head of Major Gifts ( since 2011 ) Head of the Shady Grove Medical Center Foundation, creating a new standard of excellence for its programs of philanthropic programs. Member of the Hospital’s executive leadership team, dealing with issues from patient care, physicians relations, staffing, financial performance and community benefit.Designed and directed an ongoing $24.0 million fundraising initiative to expand hospital priorities and programs. The Foundation raised $17.0 million towards that goal, including $7.0 million for the Aquilino Cancer Center, $1.5 million for the rooftop Healing Garden, $5.0 million for the Cardiac Care Services and $2.2 million for a new Emergency Center. Worked with Washington Adventist Hospital senior leadership and outside counsel to design a comprehensive capital campaign plan for its $20.0 million campaign. Designed and implemented a successful capital campaign for a 260,000 square foot expansion and renovation of the hospital. Raised $15.25 million, exceeding the target goal of $12.0 million. Raised another $7.5 million in support of additional hospital priorities.Increased the level of philanthropic support from an average of $800,000 annually to an average of $3.0 million annually. Provided support and counsel regarding strategic planning and fundraising initiatives for a host of local non-profit organizations, including Mercy Health Clinic, Montgomery County Teen Driving Foundation, Germantown Soccerplex, and local Rotary chapters.

Took on leadership of newly-formed foundation and transformed it into a strong, structured, and comprehensive program of philanthropy, generating annually an average of $4.0 million in cash and irrevocable giftsAccomplishments:Raised $20 million in support of capital, programmatic and endowment priorities.Designed, developed and implemented first system-wide development strategic plan.Established financial models and monitors, producing a cost-to-benefit ratio improvement from 55% in 1995 to an average of 21% for the years 1996-2000.Worked with Wesley Affiliated Services, Inc. of Pennsylvania to integrate their development program into the Asbury system, also creating a separate foundation for their development programs.

Provided leadership, direction and management for all development and fund-raising programs of this prestigious, private school, grades pre-kindergarten through twelve. Designed and implemented first complete development plans, including a planned giving program.Positioned annual giving as the first and primary vehicle for constituent support, resulting in the school exceeding its annual target goal by 20% over the previous year, raising $1.2 million in annual fund support.

Served as fund-raising counsel for a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit organizations to strengthen their development programs, build their donor and volunteer networks and increase their charitable funding.Completed successful campaigns for the following clients: St. Christopher’s School ($9.5 million);The New Community School ($2.0 million); Baltimore Association of Retarded Citizens ($1.0 million). Conducted annual, capital and endowment campaigns, feasibility and planning studies, foundation and corporate funding programs, volunteer recruitment and management and board training. Produced strategic planning programs for major organizations, including Loudoun Healthcare; Maryland Historical Society and the American Red Cross, National Capital Area.

Successfully managed the capital campaign to build and furnish the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, a $6.2 million facility, totally funded by charitable contributions.
