Assistant Instructor
Jeremy Black'S Taekwondo Academy
Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States
From the age of nine to fourteen, I was an assistant instructor at Jeremy Black's Taekwondo Academy. I started out by helping individual kids understand what was being taught by the lead instructor, and eventually progressed to leading entire groups of kids (20+) through small portions of the class. Initially, I taught kids ages 4-8, but as I aged, I taught kids up to the age of thirteen. The position was unpaid, and I taught one class per week. I also was able to help at around one belt testing per two months, where kids would test their skills to try and earn a new belt. The position was unpaid, but it was required that any applicant must pass a series of tests before becoming an instructor. I left because my family moved states when I was fourteen.
