Embedded ‘C’ programming for Carrier’s T1 backhaul product. Adding new features and fixing bugs relating to the ATM portion of the product using the VxWorks realtime operating system and WinCVS

Performed design verification of ADSL and EuroISDN functionality on JDSU's newest handheld tester, posting bug reports into PVCS Tracker and verifying fixes when they are available.

Temporary position that started with the porting of software from a PC Linux system to an embedded platform using the Motorola Coldfire MCF5282, uClinux and a TI DSP TMS320C6713 with the Code Composer development environment for a magnetic bearing control module.

Led project development within a team-based embedded environment on the ATM Services Tester. Used MIPS assembler and C to add AAL identification, user defined cell payload functionality and enhanced the capture filter in the test set.Integrated the Bluez Bluetooth stack in a Linux 2.4.18 environment and created a demo that used the Serial Port Profile to transfer files between a Windows Laptop and a Linux PC.

Worked with a development team on an ATM multiplexer. The multiplexer was controlled by a CPU card that utilized both an X86 processor and an Analog Devices DSP-2181. The network interface cards used the DSP-2181 for general purpose processing and to provide a communications link between the interface cards and the CPU card. • Led the design and personally documented the communications interface between the X86, the CPU card DSP and the line interface card DSP’s.• Converted the DSP software development effort from all assembly to mostly ‘C’.• Designed and developed software which provided full GR-253-CORE statistics, alarm reporting and full automatic protection switching using the SONET APS bytes for the OC-3/12 ATM interface card. • Designed and developed all software used on the Serial Multi-bit Rate card.• Main technical contact for usage of pSOS 2.2.7 operating system on the X86.• Integrated and debugged pSOS device drivers for our Ethernet and ATM interfaces.

Design and developed software for a DS1/ATM line interface card using a Motorola 68360 microcontroller. Helped integrate the card into the client’s product. Card functionality included the monitoring of transmission alarms, keeping performance counters and providing diagnostic capability.• Developed the software requirements for an OC3/ATM card and then supervised the contract personnel who developed the actual software. • Designed and developed complete embedded software for DS3 and E3 line interface cards.• Designed and developed complete embedded software for a DS3/HSSI DSU.• Designed and developed control and interface software that ran evaluation boards for numerous TranSwitch devices.

Designed, developed and maintained communication software for use on PC’s and DEC VAX’s which was used on a pioneering product within the company that collected files from the PC’s to a centralized location on a VAX for collection by our customer.

Designed and developed software used to collect and store electric, water and gas meter readings over standard telephone lines. This system was used by the local Telephone Company to study the feasibility of providing the service to the local Utility Companies.
