I am Data Scientist with 5 years of experience using modeling and simulation to drive data driven decision making for the Department of Defense. My professional interests focus on improving how organizations incorporate and use data. On any given day you can find me:- Assessing what questions our data can and cannot answer.- Improving data pipelines and infrastructure for data management.- (Re)directing teams towards our strategic goals.- Bridging the communication gap between technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.- Creating new workflows / process development- Searching for bottlenecks and finding ways to remove them.As a technical leader, I drive team success through problem-solving, fostering a supportive/inclusive work environment, and ensuring strategic alignment. Because when the team loves what they do, has the ability to perform, and is focused on the correct tasks, success follows naturally.I have extensive experience using Python and R for data manipulation, machine learning model development, and evaluation. Some of my recent work includes:- Conducting model selection competitions to improve prediction accuracy.- Applying support vector machines to assess product reception.- Using gradient boosting to predict material performance.Currently, I am working on projects that involve predicting the location of orbital space debris using machine learning, building and containerizing the infrastructure required for cloud deployment, and gaining experience working with big data sets and physics informed neural networks. Concurrently I am pursuing a masters degree in data science at U.C. Berkeley school of information, where I am learning to deploy machine learning models at scale, operate and maintain infrastructure needed for production models, and shape organizational data strategies.When I am not leading, learning, or coding, you can find me fly fishing anywhere’s there’s water.
