As a member of a team, I am contributing to the development of the first commercial release of Real Time; an application that has been in use internal within Open text for a number of years. - Designed and developed version 2 of a Multi-Protocol Gateway. The EMS SATCOM Multi-Protocol Gateway provides an interface for applications to communicate with mobile clients connected to satellite networks. Applications can send messages to and from a mobile using a web service client or a short burst data client. Version 2 introduced the short burst data client and reduced message delivery time from 2 minutes to less than 30 seconds. - Designed and led the development of a tool that proactively monitors desktop and web based applications to collect and analyze network traffic and generate application performance metrics. As a result, the amount paid by the IT department to external vendors for software support and maintenance was reduced by more than $100,000 annually. Upon completion, the time required to collect this data was reduced from several days to less than one hour which in turn, substantially reduced the amount of time required to troubleshoot and resolve customer support requests. - Re-developed and ported several tools and applications from UNIX to Windows. These tools were used to convert back and forth between TCP/IP and X.25 packets and provide file transfer to and from a Windows server/workstation and the DMS 100 family of telephone switches. Development of these tools was the first step in the team’s migration from UNIX to Windows servers and workstations.
