William C. McDowell, Ph.D., is the Dean of the Daveler and Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship and the Mark Ain Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship at Florida Gulf Coast University. He earned his Ph.D. (2006) in Management from the University of North Texas, and his research interests include small business, entrepreneurship, family business, and interorganizational relationships. His research can be seen in the Journal of of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Strategy, Organizational Development Journal, Journal of Business Issues, Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Business Diversity, Information Resources Management Journal, Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, Small Business Institute Journal, New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, among others. Dr. McDowell serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Small Business Strategy and Associate Editor at both the Journal of Business Research and the International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal. He has served in multiple roles for the national Small Business Institute including President, currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge, and previously served as editor of the Small Business Institute Journal. He redeveloped the entrepreneurship program at Bradley University and Middle Tennessee State University and developed the entrepreneurship certificate at East Carolina University as well as helped to redesign the entrepreneurship and small business program.He was awarded the Mentor Award by the Small Business Institute, and he is a recipient of the prestigious ECU College of Business Commerce Club Award. In addition, he has served as small business expert before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business.
