The company's focus was to improve the data quality and data management at Global 2000 and mid-market companies. My duties included project management, customer strategy, solution design, technical delivery, and customer support. As a founding member of Tamr's EMEA branch, my role was initially customer engagement and expansion for pre-existing European projects, which progressed to landing and delivering on green-field accounts.Key accounts include B2C entity resolution at a major European automotive manufacturer and their individual, regional subsidiaries, and B2B customer and financial product resolution at one of the UK's largest banks.

Teddington

Collaborative scientific research with industrial applications, funded by the European Union. I had responsibilities at all levels of project delivery, including proposal writing, project management and technical execution. My major projects involved machine learning route optimisation for the maritime industry, virtual reality simulation for anti-terrorism training and graph theory for shipping security and social network analysis.The majority of my work involved industrial and public sector collaborators, such as shipping companies, blue light services and the military, from both the UK and across the EU.

Experimental PhD studying particle physics on the Compact Muon Solonoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Study included 18 months in Switzerland, working on site at CERN. My thesis details the second ever measurement of the production cross-section(/rate) for a top quark via a process too rare to be measured at the older Tevatron collider experiment. The studied signal process has significant background processes, which exhibit similar collections of particles and occur much more frequently. This necessitated the use of statistical analysis techniques to reduce the data to a reliable sample of likely signal events and to make efficient use of the remaining information. My thesis was submitted in January 2013. Other PhD work included the further development of existing "trigger" systems - experimental software to quickly discern if a particle collision was of interest and thus worth being recorded for analysis.

A year-long industrial placement working on the Joint European Torus (JET) experimental fusion reactor. Worked on real-time analysis systems to examine reactor vessel conditions. Designed and produced a residual gas analysis program that identified trace elements in the reactor vessel when at super-high vacuum conditions. The program was used to confirm suitable experimental conditions and to identify faults, such as water leaks. The program I developed has been incorporated into the JET experimental procedure.
