I worked at CRL Energy as the 2IC of the environmental team based in Christchurch. My role was primarily in the emissions testing side of the business, specialising in point source emissions for clients seeking to meet their resource consent requirements. The testing methods I used most frequently were ISO 9096 and USEPA Methods 1-6, 8, 17, 201A and 202.Other field work included monitoring the concentration of airborne contaminants at ambient air sampling stations, performing site investigations, conducting soil and water sampling and collecting coal for lab analysis. In my role as the 2IC, I needed to be capable of completing all tasks independently. This included field work, lab analyses, reporting, administration and client liaison. I was also responsible for supervising and training junior colleagues. While at CRL Energy, I also made significant improvements to the resources and processes in place to produce reports and perform data analyses. This vastly increased efficiency.

My primary role at the Waimakariri District Council was to provide an efficient internal GIS service. This involved mapping council assets and assigning metadata, producing maps and updating cadastral records and utilities data. I am now very familiar with both Geomedia Professional and ArcGIS software. Additional to the GIS work, I assisted with asset valuations, report writing and data analysis. I would also regularly undertake fieldwork to capture data on the Council’s roading assets.
