I serve as the Deputy Director of Communications for Florida's Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis. Chief Financial Officer is one of only four statewide elected offices in Florida, the others being Governor, Attorney General and Commissioner of Agriculture. I work closely with CFO Patronis, our chief of staff, general counsel, communications team and main policy directors. We are headquartered at the Florida Capitol and oversee the Florida Department of Financial Services, which consists of 13 divisions, several specialized offices and 2,000 employees.Formerly Interim Communications Director and Deputy Director within the Division of Public Schools at the Florida Department of Education. I served Commissioners Richard Corcoran and Manny Diaz, Jr., who were both appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis. While working in both communications and K-12 policy, I collaborated almost daily with the Commissioner, chief and deputy chief of staff, senior chancellors, general counsel, and staff at the Executive Office of the Governor. During this period, Florida became #1 in education according to U.S. News and World Report. I also have an extensive background in professional journalism and long-form nonfiction writing, including ghostwriting five books and book proposals for three different New York Times bestselling authors.
