A conceptual site model (CSM) is developed to assess possible risks to humans and the environment from contamination from active or historic land uses, either on-site or in the surrounding area. Recommendations to ensure safe development of a site include simple design features (barrier piping, membrane installation), through to an intrusive investigation to quantify contamination.*Phase II Geo-Environmental Assessment - Site investigation to establish ground conditions onsite and to quantify contamination present, often informed by a Phase I report. Once contamination is quantified, an assessment is made using UK government framework to determine whether the site is suitable for the proposed development, or whether remediation is required. Often combined with a geo-technical assessment of ground conditions to inform foundation, pavement, or drainage design.During site works, project management duties include client liaison, site management, oversight of contractors and machinery (assorted drilling rigs, mechanical excavators, bowsers), and completion of necessary risk assessments and health and safety plans, including for sites located in high risk environments, including active military bases.Consultant duties include logging of soils in accordance to British Standards, sampling of soils/groundwater in accordance with industry standards, installation of monitoring standpipes and subsequent ground gas/groundwater monitoring, and execution of various geo-technical tests such as soakaway testing, or cone penetrometer tests.Additional report writing includes Remedial Method Statements, Verification Reports, and Flood Risk Assessments.
