Analyzing XRF data to assess for lead contamination in public housing and preparing reports in accordance with EPA and HPD standards. Additionally, I support the coordination of field staff and am training to assist with ESA Phase 1 work.

Internship at the National Estuarine Research Reserve in Homer, Alaska. Through collaboration with Silvestrum Climate Associates and the University of Alaska, Anchorage, I performed a pilot study to quantify the amount of carbon sequestered in Kenai Penninsula peatlands. Fieldwork included conducting site surveys and collecting cores, after which samples were processed in the laboratory (bulk density and % loss on ignition). Data were analyzed in Excel and ArcGIS. I presented this project at the 2021 Fall American Geophysical Union Conference.

Extraction and quantification of microplastics from sediment samples collected in mudflats near Shanghai, China, and sand dunes of the Namib Desert. I modified existing procedures to account for varying organic content in the samples, utilizing a dual approach of hydrogen peroxide digestion and ferrous sulfate density separation to isolate the microplastics. Additionally, I performed the duties of a laboratory technician including monitoring the laboratory's chemical stock and coordinating with other research groups about equipment.

Advocated environmental legislation at the New York State level. I worked in focus groups aimed at mobilizing youth for climate action and additionally met with the offices of state senators and assembly members to gain support for the Climate and Community Investment Act.

Keck Geology Consortium’s first-year REU. I contributed to ongoing research on Acropora cervicornis (branching coral) health and formulated a new project quantifying the effects of decaying Sargassum spp. (seaweed) on seawater quality. I presented this research at the 2019 Fall American Geophysical Union Conference.
