I assess credit risk in commercial loan portfolios during on-site examinations and recommend risk grade changes, including Probability of Default and Loss Given Default, when appropriate. When assigned as Examiner-in-Charge I establish the scope of the examination, determine portfolio penetration and define the credit sample. I prepare examination reports, discuss findings with management and provide recommendations/expectations for improvement. I conduct off-site credit risk monitoring on pre-assigned banking units and prepare quarterly risk assessment of those units. I assist with special projects that generally focus on identifying and managing credit risk and participate in due diligence reviews. Experience includes the former Midwest Bank.

I conducted loan reviews including some of the largest individual relationships in the banking group. I reviewed commercial real estate, C & I, consumer, mortgages etc. Recommendations for changes in risk profile were presented to senior managers when appropriate. Credits were analyzed on an individual basis for financial soundness, ability to service it's debt, collateral coverage, compliance with banking laws and regulations as well as compliance with loan covenants.

For 17 years I examined banks for safety and soundness as well as for compliance with federal and state banking laws and regulations. As Examiner in Charge I established the scope of the examination, determined portfolio penetration and select the asset sample to be included in the examination. After discussion with bank management I prepared reports of examination and issued the exam report following consultation and coordination with field supervisors and the FDIC regional office. I assisted in failed bank liquidation, performed due diligence, packaged loans and other assets for sale in the secondary market; managed real estate owned and negotiated workouts, restructures and settlements. I organized the first Minority and Women Owned Business (“MWOB”) contracting program for the FDIC’s Central region. I reviewed contracts for compliance with MWOB policy, performed certification audits and conducted training programs with MWOB vendors on how to do business with the FDIC/RTC.
