I have years of extensive experience as an intellectual property attorney, litigating a broad spectrum of complex patent and other intellectual property cases, particularly pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, and computer technology matters. I have represented major clients as a trial lawyer in jury and court trials, as well as before the International Trade Commission. My career also includes significant representation of Asian and European based clients in addition to U.S. clients. My practice also includes counseling clients on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and licensing matters, and I am a frequent lecturer on intellectual property issues. In recognition of my significant litigation background, I was selected by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to serve on its Attorney Settlement Officer Panel. Additionally, I serve as a Member and Officer of the Judge Paul R. Michel Intellectual Property American Inn of Court. I also have an exceptional background in civic leadership as the Mayor of Pasadena, CA and as a member of the Pasadena City Council. I also served as an elected member of the Board of Trustees of Pasadena City College and as President of the Board.
