I am a PhD candidate in the English department at Emory University who will graduate in May of 2022. My dissertation analyzes the intersections of literature, popular culture, and US American politics in the 1800s, and specifically looks to moments of imperial expansion and anti-immigration legislation. My research interests include American and World literature, postcolonial theory, the politics of representation, popular culture, and digital humanities. My research has been published in The Journal of Popular Culture and the South Atlantic Review. I am a dedicated and creative researcher with extensive experience in leadership, project management, curriculum and research design, event planning, and donor and customer interaction. I also have a passion for teaching. My most recent courses were ENG 181: The Sociopolitics of the Marvel Universe, an introductory writing course focusing on Marvel Comics, and ENG 101: Demystifying Collegiate Writing, a writing-in-the-disciplines course focusing on rhetorical analysis in diverse scholarly fields. I am an avid golfer, a soccer player, and most important, a husband and a father.
