New Financial is a think tank and forum launched in 2014 that makes the positive case for the vital role that capital markets play in driving growth and prosperity. We believe Europe needs bigger and better capital markets - and that this presents a huge opportunity for the industry and its customers to embrace change and rethink how capital markets work. We work with the industry and with senior policymakers to help the industry make a better case for the value of what it does and rethink what it needs to change to make that case more effectively. new Financial is a social enterprise funded by 25 institutional member firms. New Financial provides a private forum for senior individuals with different perspectives from across the industry to work together to address common challenges and help improve capital markets. We host around 30 private events and publish a dozen in-depth research reports on different aspects of the capital markets each year.

As Editor of Financial News I oversaw the development of the publication into one of the most widely-read and respected publications for the investment banking and asset management industry in Europe, and growth in its readership to more than 55,000 paid online subscribers. I led and managed a team of more than 50 editorial staff, setting the tone and direction of all editorial content, and played a key role in business development and strategy. As the public face of Financial News, I hosted or moderated dozens of private dinners, events and conferences with senior executives across the industry.As a board director of eFinancialNews Ltd, I played an active role in the sale of the company in 2007 to the Wall Street Journal and in its subsequent integration into Dow Jones & Co.When we launched the business in 1996 we had just 15 staff. By the time our online recruitment business eFinancialCareers.com was acquired by Dice Holdings in 2006, and Financial News was acquired by Dow Jones & Co in 2007, we emplyed more than 250 staff.

I took a year out from being Editor of Financial News in 2009 to run the commercial side of the business in the wake of the financial crisis. During this year I restructured the business across editorial, product and advertising sales, exited two non-core products, integrated the business more closely into Dow Jones, and returned Financial News to profitability, before returning as Editor in 2010.
