When I began my career as a self-employed hairstylist, I knew great customer service would be paramount to my success. There would only be ONE opportunity to turn the prospective customer in my chair into a loyal client. Communication was the bedrock that my client book was built on. Active listening helped me steer clear of many of the mistakes that doom the careers of beginning hairstylists. Carefully looking for clues in their facial expressions and repeating back what I perceived to be the customer's desired result, led to many successful first encounters. As my client book grew, I realized my clients were becoming my billboards; my advocates. If I proved to them that I was on their team, so to speak, they wanted to be on mine. They liked doing business with me.As vital as good communication skills are, I have found teamwork to be just as important. When the pace of work speeds up, teamwork is a the glue that holds great customer service together. Teamwork allows the players to stay focused on each customer, while collaboration mitigates the distractions that come with a time crunch. I have been fortunate to work with wonderful teammates in every job. The best customer service I've ever been a part of was at Walt Disney World's Pop Century Resort. I served there as a luggage agent for SP Plus. At WDW, customer service is on another level--its magic. Guests are to be entertained while being served. I thought I had mastered customer service until I trained and worked at Disney; there, customer service is part of the show.I look forward to putting my customer service and technical skills to work for you!
