Additionally, I continue to provide backup coaching to students of Universal Accounting (UA), and take part each year in updating UA's tax course, The Professional Tax Preparer, to make it current with the annual changes to the tax code.

I was hired to take over a class of financial accounting 1110/1120. It was a great opportunity to get back into teaching, which I enjoyed so much at Universal Accounting. I loved my interaction with my students there. But the workload was overwhelming during tax season and I had to let it go after one semester.

Universal Accounting Center develops and markets training materials for small business accounting, income tax preparation, and related software skills such as QuickBooks and Excel. UA also helps with marketing and business development for accountants and other professionals. I began as a bookkeeping and tax coach in 2006, but my focus was switched exclusively to taxes in 2008 when I was assigned to re-write UA's four-volume tax curriculum, The Professional Tax Preparer Program. I continue to provide coaching support for UA's tax students.

Children of Ethiopia Education Fund (COEEF) is 501(c)(3) non-profit with NGO status in Ethiopia, specializing in girl's education. COEEF arranges for volunteers to sponsor individual students at private schools throughout Ethiopia (current costs for such sponsorships are about $250 per year--very modest for the kind of impact it has on a young girl's life). COEEF has a very personalized model that allows for direct contact between sponsor and student, which includes frequent exchange of letters, annual photos of your student, and the profound conviction that you are really making a difference. A passion of mine! Even though I have resigned from the board, my family still sponsors the same student we started with when she was only 8 years old or so. She will be graduating from high school soon and we expect to find another little student and start the whole thing over once she does. Very rewarding!

I managed project teams and developed online content designed to provide safety and health information, called e-Tools, for high-risk occupations under federal safety codes. Most of my projects were construction-related, such as the Construction e-Tool, the Scaffolding e-Tool, the Steel Erection e-Tool, and the Electrical Contractors e-Tool.

Founder and owner of Laser Technologies (later Delta Imaging), providing laser printer service and supplies in the Los Angeles-metropolitan area. Major clients included Los Angeles County, Caltech, Long Beach City College and California Teachers Association. We also served prominent law firms such as Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, Hancock Rothert & Bunshoft, O'Flaherty & Belgum and Loeb & Loeb, along with hundreds of mid-size and smaller firms.

Worked primarily as Theater Editor, keeping the calendar of Salt Lake-area stage productions current, providing monthly theater reviews, and conducting occasional interviews with prominent local theater figures. Also served as Associate Editor for about six months, really doing anything that needed to be done in the office to keep this small arts and entertainment newspaper going.
