About William France - Camera Trainee
I am an enthusiastic, neuro-diverse entrant into the screen industries currently looking for camera trainee jobs on features and Direct of photography opportunities on short form projects. Currently working on my own professional image and as an Office Assistant at Dynamic Rentals to help sharpen my attention to detail, versatility and knowledge of the equipment used in the overall screen industries from cinema brands such as ARRI, Sony, Zeiss and Cooke. I aspire to work in both HETV and film professionally in the camera department regularly in the coming years. With my overall objective being to develop my skills to the point where I can feel comfortable as a cinematographer. To achieve this aim I have completed various Screenskills education courses, including their mentorship programme, studied Film, Radio and Television at Canterbury Christ Church University and achieved a Research Masters in Media, Art and Design by writing a thesis on 'The impact of new and contemporary technology on Film related activities in Britain’. I completed my undergraduate course, in Film, Radio and Television Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University, in 2019 by graduating with a First-class BA (Hons) degree. While my degree helped me to deepen my knowledge in the different areas of these three mediums, and has allowed me to work on different Film, TV and Sound productions, I took specific modules on Cinematography in my second year and on Sound Studies in my third year. Additionally as a postgraduate MA Research student in Media, Art and Design I studied and completed a thesis on 'The impact of new and contemporary technology on Film related activities in Britain' at Canterbury Christ Church University by examining British Film Journalism, British Film Industry and various forms of film exhibition. This involved me researching current trends in each area, such as the use of Internet Journalism, the increasing demand of virtual production resources due to COVID-19, the impact of streaming services on physical media and about how Film Festivals have begun to use digital events in their programming.
Listed skills include Teamwork, Writing, Microsoft Word, Imovie, and 12 others.

William France - Camera Trainee work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Work Experience (1 Day A Week)
Helping with the technicians at One Stop Films, with the aim of learning about various cinema equipment. So far I have learnt about their check-in/check-out processes, how to clean/maintain filters and how to map a lens for follow focus tools such as the ARRI Hi-5 and WCU-4. I have also had some responsibilities in taking care of OneStop clients who come in to test for long and short form projects.
Creative
Content Creator
Office Assistant (1-2 Days A Week)
General helper around the DYNAMIC Rentals office in Ashford, Kent, and for a small period in their new office in Brentford. My role involved me being very adaptable and mobile around the office, helping with different tasks like carrying kit (including cameras, accessories and lenses), tidying or organising inventory and occasionally helping to service kit. As such through this role I have gained a considerable amount of knowledge on cinema equipment, which has continued to grow as I’ve continued in the role. Due to the inventory the business keeps I have especially gained knowledge about ARRI Cameras, the Sony Cinealta camera range and ARRI Accessories for rigging cameras and follow focus modules. As aforementioned through this role I have learnt about and been around ARRI camera products, such as the Alexa Mini LF, Alexa 35 and Hi-5 Follow Focus Unit, and Sony Cinema equipment, like the Venice 1, Venice 2 and Sony Rialto extension module, and have extensively seen how these products have been serviced and quality controlled. More so I have handed various lines of lenses like the Zeiss supreme Primes, ARRI Signature Primes and Cooke S7 Anamorphic lenses alongside these camera products to help with shipping and packing of orders. Additionally this role has helped me to learn about cinema rigging accessories from companies such as ARRI and Wooden Camera. In that process it has required me to sometimes assemble rigging cages for the Mini LF and Sony Venice cameras with kits and parts from both those companies. Most recently I have had to learn how to assemble the production kit for the new ARRI Alexa 35 before putting it into practice for when we receive new cameras. Overall, this role has given me above all a greater knowledge of how this part of the rental house ecosystem works and functions, and has allowed to interact with and study high-end cinema brands and high end cinema equipment that is popular within the Film, TV and Media Industry today.
Student Ambassador
A student ambassador position requires students to represent Canterbury Christ Church University on open days and applicant days. My main responsibility was to positively engage with potential students about University life whether through guiding campus tours, being a general student helper or acting as a representative for my course. Overall, this encouraged me to have good communication, and an up-to-date knowledge of equipment and an up-to-date experience of my university degree
Lunchtime Supervisor
This position required me to watch over children with complex disabilities during lunch break, during my time as an A Level student at The Abbey School Faversham. My main responsibilities was to make that students were well behaved, and to make sure that students were happy within their environment. This encouraged good communication skills and pragmatic problem solving in a secure vicinity for these students.
