Dedicated counsel advising on the business initiative to launch a net new commercial deposits and liquidity and cash management business within RBC’s United States Branch. The initiative is scaling quickly to offer a broad suite of capabilities to institutional clients. Key contributor during the implementation of successive waves of additional capabilities within the business in the areas of DDA accounts, term deposits, domestic and international wires, ECR payments, daylight overdraft lines, liquidity management (sweeps), vendor payment, ACH, API integration, DACAs, and other cash management offerings and capabilities. Collaborate on a regular basis with senior functional counterparts in Compliance, Risk Management, AML, Privacy, and Finance groups, as well as with management across the global Corporate Banking and Investment Banking businesses. Created a net new set of Relationship Document terms and conditions governing accounts and products. Worked collaboratively with senior management, product managers, developers, marketing compliance and other functional stakeholders to develop and create policies, procedures, guidelines, standard forms, notices, marketing material, and client communications in support of the business. Support and attend internal approval committees and subcommittees on behalf of Law Group.

Provide legal advice and support to the treasury management line of business. Advise senior management, sales officers, product managers and operations teams on a wide variety of matters related to products and payment systems. Consult on the development of new products and new business initiatives, including working with FinTechs to bring new products and solutions to market. Maintain working knowledge of banking laws and regulations governing commercial accounts and treasury services. Advise the business on legal issues arising out of payment systems and cash management services along with proposing practical ways address those risks. Review marketing materials, conduct training for the business on select topics, and work with business on implementing appropriate procedures and processes. Advise on cross-border transactions and international business initiatives. Improve documentation and processes for treasury services offerings across business lines. Advise on legal issues related to RFPs and preparation of appropriate and accurate bid responses.

Provided legal support for the HSBC Global Liquidity & Cash Management line of business. Primary legal contributor for regional and global treasury products across business lines. Proactively managed legal risk and addressed issues raised by Compliance and regulators including maintaining internal control standards and timely implementation of audit points. Maintained working knowledge of commercial banking laws, regulations, UCC 4 and 4A, NACHA, S.W.I.F.T., Regulations D, CC and W, as well as other industry rules governing funds transfer, and electronic services channels. Negotiated global and regional treasury and liquidity documentation. Worked with FinTechs, Product Managers and business leaders to bring new products and solutions to market. Member of the Digital Innovative Committee and Privacy in Technology Committee. Lead corporate credit cards attorney for the North American region and a key global cards program contributor. Reviewed training, marketing and client facing materials for all products. Developed and implemented standardized processes for negotiating treasury related product and service offerings across business lines.
