• Conducted an independent research project investigating the role of novel therapeutics for the treatment of neurofibromatosis under Dr. Lu Le in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern.• Responsibilities included maintenance of fibroblast and stem cell lines in culture, drug administration, and quantification of relative protein expression levels using qRT-PCR and western blot.• Presented research findings during weekly lab meetings and at an end-of-summer poster presentation within the UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

• Volunteered for a joint clinical research program with Parkland Hospital, UT Southwestern, and UT Dallas.• Role involved volunteer lobby shifts focused on assisting patients in the waiting room, and pod shifts centered on educating and enrolling patients in several clinical research studies being conducted.

• Engaged with and learned from patients, physicians, and staff in both the clinical and surgical settings.• Broadened my understanding of various medical disciplines, ranging from electronic medical records and sterile technique to human anatomy and clinical diagnoses.• Gained 300+ hours of observational experience in specialties of: Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, OB/GYN, Emergency Medicine.
