Vice President And Associate General Counsel - Chief Counsel Of Mortgage
CurrentIn-house counsel for nationwide mortgage broker subsidiary of Primerica, Inc. supporting and advising the business in moving from a pilot program, to a startup, and now a growth stage operation undertaking rapid expansion.Responsible for researching and analyzing current and proposed federal and state mortgage broker and loan origination laws, regulations, policy statements, and legislation to enable expansion into new markets as well as maintaining compliance in existing markets. Tasked with drafting, reviewing, and maintain compliance materials, consumer disclosures, internal/external communications, and policies and procedures to meet business needs and objectives as well as ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal law.Additional duties include: • Analyzing business practices and product developments for general business and regulatory risks. • Reviewing marketing materials, sales collateral, training materials, disclosures, and workflows for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.• Supporting business operations in in setting standards and procedures to accomplish necessary privacy and data protections.• Coordinating regulatory examinations with various state and federal regulatory agencies.• Collaborating directly with business stakeholders and executive management on day-to-day legal considerations and a variety of ad hoc legal issues to provide analysis, recommendations, and creative solutions to mitigate risk to the business.• Working with various departments within the Office of General Counsel to harmonize legal objectives and compliance requirements between the various other lines of business among the Primerica companies.• Manage attorney and non-attorney staff performing various assigned tasks.
