Member of a team responsible for the upgrade of the Marine Corps Recruiting Information Support System (MCRISS) application from a platform consisting of ASP, VB6, COM+ and SQL Server 2000 to ASP.NET, AJAX, C#, WCF services, and SQL Server 2005.Through extensive reverse-engineering of the legacy code, and collaboration with business analysts, designed a future service-oriented architecture for MCRISS centered on leveraging both ASMX and WCF Services across multiple service layers.Designed and developed a model-driven data access service that allows the system designer to define contracts in Visual Studio 2005 graphically, and then have all of the supporting code for the model contracts, data retrieval, and NHibernate data maps generated from the model. The engine within the service itself was written using C# generics, and leveraged the Spring.NET and NHibernate frameworks for inversion-of-control dependency injection and object-relational-mapping respectively. Web Service Software Factory Modeling Edition provided the foundation for the modeling, and CodeSmith was used for code generation.

Designed a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for Chase Education Finance leveraging Microsoft .NET technologies.Developed proof of concept solutions for new SOA approaches using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), and various tools such as the Web Service Software Factory, and Web Service Contract First.Analyzed and documented the existing software architecture and developed a future model for the service-oriented architecture supporting education finance loan origination.Developed web services using ASP.NET web services written in C# in support of the long-term architecture goals demonstrating a contract-first approach to service design.Redesigned and implemented a new business rule engine for validating loan applications as they progressed through the sales workflow. The rule engine was encapsulated in a web service, and promoted the highest-level of re-use across the architecture by allowing rules to be reused across the same product, same product-line, and even across-product-lines with little-to-no change in code.Developed proof-of-concept solutions for a replacement windows client which would match the modularity of the existing web client using the Smart Client Software Factory and Component Application Block (CAB). Managed the redevelopment of a student loan servicing self-service web application by a team of 5 developers, developing project plans, managing day-to-day development effort, coordinating quality assurance testing, and managing the release. Introduced agile development techniques, such as the daily scrum and burn down list with great success and on-time project completion. Managed two of four teams working on a new application platform supporting a new private student loan product. Each team of four developers worked on a separate aspect of the platform. These three-tier applications leveraged ASP.NET, C#, web services and SQL Server 2000 to create a scalable architecture supporting over 30 million dollars in loans in its first year.Designed and contributed to the implementation of the loan processing engine for the private loan product. The design allowed for multiple products to be processed using a single paradigm, with the processing requirements for each product being entirely configurable and data driven. This allowed for a future product variation to be created in under two weeks. Managed a number of software maintenance cycles for the private loan product. These maintenance cycles included defect fixes and product enhancements, and were performed by a team of four developers.Provided mentoring, design guidance, review, and advice to all of the developers and contributed to the professional development of a number of junior developers who eventually became maintenance cycle and project tech leads.

Upgrade included considerations for speed, flexibility, and required remodeling of certain components to be more object-oriented.Produced a Hardware Accreditation Tracking application used by the Cyber security team to track the accreditation status of secure computer systems. The application was developed in Visual Basic.NET. The application went from requirements to user testing in three weeks, and is capable of generating over 250 web reports from one user control.Received two certificates of appreciation from NCI Information Systems for outstanding work performed for the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Developed, directed and participated in the programming of an advertising banner management application used to manage web site advertising for multiple ad carriers, multiple advertisers, and multiple banner formats, including a new video banner format. Banner management included tracking statistics such as expsoures and clicks. The application was developed using Active Server Pages and a Microsoft Access database.Designed and implemented an application used by auto body shops to allow their customers to check the shop’s web site to see if the work on their vehicle is complete. Prior to this application, most calls the shop was receiving were in regards to vehicle status. The application was built using a Microsoft Access 2000 database and Active Server Pages.

Assisted in the production of a disaster victim tracking application for the International Social Services branch of the American Red Cross. This web-based application, created using Visual Basic 6.0 MTS COM components, Active Server Pages, and SQL Server 7, is used to document case work in tracking down victims of natural disasters, and war refugees.Technical lead for application developed for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation intended to manage fund-raising events and track monetary contributions. Application was designed in close cooperation with Microsoft Consulting Services following Microsoft Solutions Framework guidelines, and constructed using Microsoft Access 2000.
