Detroit Metropolitan Area

At Cognex I manage a team to provide Engineering and Solution Support for Machine Vision and Deep Learning applications for Electric Vehicle, mainly battery manufacturing. My team works closely with the Electric Vehicle Sales team to provide scalable solutions and assist in influencing roadmap decisions for the EV Product Marketing Team. This team provides technical assistance to solve new and existing customer applications. My role assists in coordinating solution and support efforts across multiple departments within the Cognex organization. Applications are developed using Cognex products ranging from ID, traditional vision tools, 3D, edge learning and deep learning on PC based systems. Application subjects include gauging, cosmetic, part detection, VGR, defect detection, ID reading. Typical applications include coating, stacking, alignment laser cutting and surface inspection of cylindrical, prismatic and pouch batteries. After the inspection we assist in systems interfacing such as PLCs, MES systems and data analytics servers. Imaging technologies include area scan, line scan and 3D (Laser Displacement, Stereo Vision, Structured Light, Shape from Shading and Photometric Stereo). As manager of this team I coordinate the scheduling of all assignments, mentor in the solutions, order team and office equipment as well facilitate the team planning and building. As manager I also perform employee performance reviews and career development including assigning performance goals and milestones.

At Cognex I manage a team of up to eight engineers that provide engineering support for logistics based solutions including barcode reading and vision systems (both 2D and 3D). The Advanced customer engineering team provides documentation, training, scripting, software development, post-sales support and assist in advanced system integration. As manager of this team I coordinate the scheduling of all assignments, mentor in the solutions, order team and office equipment as well facilitate the team planning and building. As manager I also perform employee performance reviews and career development including assigning performance goals and milestones.

At Cognex I provide technical assistance to the team, schedule assignments, review expense reports, provide reporting data for Power BI reports, update KPI data and manage PTO.

Applications are developed using Cognex products ranging from ID, 2D, 3D and Deep Learning across all platforms including sensors, smart cameras and PC based systems. Products include Checker, DataMan, In-Sight, VisionPro and Vidi application suites. Applications subjects include bin picking, part detection, VGR, defect detection, ID reading and automation systems interfacing.

At Cognex I am responsible for application framework: architecture, development, testing, documentation, integration at the customer facility as well as customer relations, project management and assistance with order administration. Applications developed involved PC based machine vision utilizing GigE (Cognex, Basler) and Camera Link (Cognex, e2v, Dalsa, Active Silicon, Bitflow) interfaces with area scan, line scan and 3D technologies. Machine vision solutions include parallel processing of vision algorithms, Cognex OmniView SDK programming, WCF programming, 3rd party hardware interfacing.

At Cognex I am responsible for application: architecture, development, testing, documentation, integration at the customer facility as well as customer relations, project management, coordination of ordering hardware and software. Applications developed involved PC based machine vision utilizing GigE and Camera Link interfaces with area scan, line scan and 3D technologies. At this position I developed an architecture for web inspections that can be dynamically configured for any matrix of camera to cavity relationships. This technology platform was integrated for seven machines in one facility and currently being developed for another facility in conjunction are still actively pursuing additional sales leads. Machine vision solutions include parallel processing of vision algorithms, Cognex OmniView SDK programming, WCF programming, interfacing to: Epson 6 axis robot, OPC, various PLC’s, various SQL databases, Cognex In-Sight and DataMan. Also performed training of Cognex Vision Pro to student customers.
