A family business based in Killarney which has evolved over the years through a variety of different ventures. The Granary Bar, Restaurant, Music Venue, Holiday Apartments. 2001-2004 I was responsible for overseeing the development of this project, including its design and construction, from a green field site to the building as it stands today. I was responsible for all initial budgeting and building costs. Part of this responsibility involved managing fortnightly site management meetings between all contractors, architects and sub-contractors. When the building was open my responsibilities extended to supervising the operating costs and the management of supplier accounts. I was responsible for the internal layout and decoration of all areas including the main bar, restaurant, kitchens and upstairs apartments. I employed all the management staff and delegated the hiring of all ancillary staff to them. At one point we had twenty six people working in the business between full, part time and seasonal staff. I supervised staff training which included basic table service, HACCP procedures and manual handling. When we moved into hosting live music I was initially responsible for booking all the live acts. I was in charge of all marketing for the business including press releases, publicity and promotion. This included compiling and submitting ads to local publications and running a small team of people giving out flyers and passes to events on the streets of Killarney.
