Mr. Panlilio's representative international arbitration and cross-border litigation experience include:• Represented Chevron Corporation against the Republic of Ecuador in a USD 9.5 billion arbitration under the U.S.-Ecuador Bilateral Investment Treaty. This case concerns the fraudulent Lago Agrio environmental judgment issued by the Ecuadorian courts, resulting in precedent-setting awards in favor of Chevron.• Represented The Renco Group in an UNCITRAL Arbitration against the Republic of Peru brought under the U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement. The dispute concerns a copper mining project and poly-metallic smelting operation in the Andes Mountains.• Represented a major South East Asian conglomerate in a SIAC arbitration against a South East Asian company. The arbitration pertained to a shareholder dispute concerning business interests valued at more than USD 1 billion, and implicated the laws of a number of jurisdictions.• Represented a South East Asian mining company in a SIAC arbitration against its joint venture partner. The dispute related to a gold and copper mining project valued at more than USD 300 million.• Represented Moldovan investors in proceedings before U.S. federal courts to enforce a USD 500 million arbitral award against the Republic of Kazakhstan arising out of an arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty.• Represented Moldovan investors in proceedings before U.S. federal court commenced by the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.• Represented investment company in proceedings before U.S. federal court on discovery in aid of foreign proceedings under 28 USC §1782. The case involves the laws of four different jurisdictions and five separate international legal fora.• Represented a Korean contractor in an UNCITRAL arbitration in Singapore concerning claims of approximately AU$ 1 billion stemming from the design and construction of an iron ore mine in Western Australia.

Mr. Panlilio's role included assisting arbitral tribunals in treaty and commercial arbitrations involving various combinations of States, State entities, international organizations and private parties mostly from the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors. He also assisted the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration with his mandate under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules in designating appointing authorities and appointing arbitrators.
