Assistant Controller
Current- Oversee the company’s investment accounting process, including investment valuations, capital calls and distributions, month-end close/financial reporting, investment account reconciliations, journal entries, and management fee billing- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles- Research and resolve complex investment accounting issues for proper operational efficiency and accounting treatment- Coordinate with independent auditors, custodians, investment back-offices, and other service providers- Monitor and respond to changes in industry trends, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and tax rules- Oversee the processing of daily investment cash flow transactions for investment purchases and sales over a broad range of asset classes and investment instruments- Direct the use of the company’s investment accounting system, Clearwater Analytics- Prepare and review statutory insurance filings with the NAIC and GAAP financial statements- Assist in annual GAAP and statutory audits, in addition to audits initiated by the state insurance department, IRS, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Department of Labor
