As CIO, my leadership responsibilities include ensuring KJI Technology implements and manages internal technology-based processes and solutions in a manner that maximizes service to the students, support of faculty, and systemic KJI productivity and makes complex tasks easily and effectively achievable through the use of technology.The three key areas of technology engagement include development and direct management of academic and business software solutions, engagement with software service providers (SaaS), and use of Cloud-based storage and services to securely manage a variety of resources directly managed by KJI.My primary goal is to ensure KJI Technology adds maximum value so as to facilitate the success of Knowles Johnson Institute of Graduate Studies.

Manage a multi-function, geographically distributed organization with responsibility for development of mobile and web-based solutions that enable WEX customers to more effectively engage with WEX.

Managed a team of software engineers responsible for the design and development of major enhancements to the WEX Online applications, mobile applications, and systems integration technologies.

Offering software development services that deliver effective, business-enabling software solutions.

Provided hands-on development of the web-based software solutions that enabled business operations, designed and deployed the operational processes necessary to run the business, and implemented an integrated IT systems architecture and underlying infrastructure.

From 1990 through 2002, William worked for Sun Microsystems, holding positions of increasing responsibility over his 12+ years with the company. As Sr. Director of Technology Services and Architecture, he managed a multi-function organization of 70 people and a $12M budget with responsibility for Business Systems Architecture, Technology Services, Technology Exploration, and Information Security. A key accomplishment included the global deployment of a publish and subscribe messaging infrastructure that enabled Sun applications anywhere in the world to exchange information in a near real-time basis, significantly enhancing Sun’s business activities with data and information available around the world within seconds. This mission critical infrastructure was scaled to over one million transactions per week, while achieving Six Sigma level of operational integrity and reliability..

NOTE: Computer Associates acquired Cullinet Software - September 1989. From 1985 through 1990, William worked for Cullinet Software as a senior member of their Applications Product Development organization with responsibility for the CAS Manufacturing Applications. His roles included all aspects of product development including customer facing pre and post sales activities. In addition, William drove an R&D effort that focused on peer to peer, cooperative processing technologies that enabled a PC to work directly with a mainframe to accomplish its PC-based activities. Prototypes were developed that enabled a PC-based EDI application to update a mainframe application database immediately after the data was received via the traditional EDI connections.

From 1972 through 1985, William worked for Foster Grant Corporation with numerous roles that included Sr. Computer Operator, Software Engineer, and Sr. Systems Analyst. As a Software Engineer, William had responsibility for implementing an automated data collection system that included hands-on responsibility for system design, hardware installation, and OS system generation activities. The hardware installation included an HP1000 computer, modems, data lines, and production line computer terminals. As a Systems Analyst, William had responsibility for implementing and deploying IBM’s COPICS Customer Order Servicing system across the business; this deployment included bringing Foster Grant’s remote distribution centers online for local order and shipment processing..
