My primary responsibilities as an international admissions counselor with the UCA Office of International Engagement included receiving, processing, and evaluating international student applications and materials. I regularly communicated with international students from all over the world, and worked to make sure that the application process was as easy and efficient as possible. Additionally, I worked with other members of my office to coordinate international programs and initiatives on campus. Most recently I was responsible for planning and coordinating UCA's 2015 Culture and English Immersion for Professionals program, where participants arrived from Brazil and Argentina for 3 weeks of intensive language and culture classes.

As a wholesale company, Ruffin Flag Company maintains a working relationship with a wide variety of retail clients throughout North and Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe. In my role as an International Account Executive, I was responsible specifically for seeking out and maintaining working sales relationships with clients, particularly with those who's preferred language of interaction is Spanish.

The Modified Spanish Program at East Carolina University operates out of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and works to ensure that learning disabled students receive the attention and education they need. My role as a tutor was first and foremost to meet with and help those students involved in the program, and to assist the program instructors in identifying student strengths and weaknesses, so as to better prepare lessons and activities.

Undergraduate Admissions for international students at East Carolina University is handled through the Office of International Affairs, and in that capacity, I served a support role for the Assistant Director for International Undergraduate Admissions. My primary responsibilities involved assisting incoming international students with day to day issues, basic data entry, coordinating events during International Education Week, and organizing volunteers during International Student Orientation. I was introduced to both Internet Native Banner and SEVIS during my time here, and the preparation and attention I received from my supervisors was invaluable. I was also introduced to the various types of visas one might encounter when dealing with international students, and I sought to combine this with a solid understanding of the recruiting process so that I might better develop holistic understanding of what one encounters in an international education environment.
