About William Sinclair

Will graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons I) and has more than fifteen years of post-graduate experience in the design of buildings across a diverse range of sectors and locations. He has developed particular skills in the modelling, analysis, parameterisation and optimisation of building structures through his involvement in unique and challenging projects around the world, with developments based in Australia, the UK, China, Singapore, Malta, Mexico, Thailand, Kuwait and Finland. To further enhance his focus on cross-border projects and explore international best practice, Will has worked abroad in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. Through a diverse portfolio of projects, Will has worked extensively in commercial, residential, education, healthcare and community infrastructure sectors. He has experience in a wide range of structures, materials and building typologies ranging from human scale timber art installations to supertall high-rise buildings of composite construction and he approaches each different project with a rigour born from an appreciation of project objectives, industry best-practice, and a deep understanding of structural engineering first principles. He is adept at providing advice across the lifecycle of a structural asset from concept to operation and excels at interfacing between disciplines to produce advanced solutions and best-for-project outcomes. Will is an accomplished communicator and mentor, capable of deconstructing and explaining complex technical issues in simple terms to industry peers, clients, and the wider community. This capability is being used to full extent at The University of Queensland where he lectures both the penultimate and final year capstone courses in Integrated Design for Civil Engineering.
