Member Of Technical Working Party “Transforming Ecosystems For Jobs In Agriculture Through Technology And Innovation”The Technical Working Party - TEJATI is an important component of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, under the State Department of Agriculture tasked with the mandate of innovatively thinking through the process of ensuring that 470,000 new sustainable jobs are created per year along food and cash crop value chains across Kenya for the period between 2024 - 2025.The overarching task of the ‘TWP-TEJATI’ is to evoke the minds of/and innovatively engage stakeholders across 47 counties of Kenya in thinking of jobs for Youth, Women and PWDs in agriculture along agriculture value chains through employing a new paradigm shift in strategy.With a rapidly growing global population and a significant youth demographic in Africa, the demand for food is set to rise substantially. Kenya, with its youthful population, is presented with a unique opportunity to embrace innovative agricultural technologies and learn, adopt, and upscale them. Considering that the majority of our food is cultivated in rural areas, it's crucial to emphasize urban agriculture to reduce our overreliance on rural food production and achieve a more balanced food supply. Promoting food production in urban and peri-urban areas in concurrence with rural development will alleviate the strain on the government's finances and contribute to bolstering the nation's food reserves.

The Steering Committee provides overall strategic direction for the full Commission and lead the development of its main deliverables. It also conveys advice and recommendations from civil society through regular engagement with the Director-General and senior WHO leadership.The Commission provides, for the first time, the ability to channel advice and recommendations in a more structured and systematic manner from civil society to WHO on health priorities and related issues. The historical role of civil society organizations (CSO) in bringing about change in public health is well-known. While WHO has a long-standing tradition of working with CSOs, the establishment of the Commission takes the collaboration to a new level. Listening and responding is essential The Commission’s mandate is to strengthen dialogue and foster collaboration with WHO and among one another. It will also provide recommendations to support WHO in this engagement at all levels (global, regional and national) towards the achievement of universal health coverage (health for all) as well as the Sustainable Development Goals. The launch of the Commission is the Director-General’s response to civil society requests to explore better and more meaningful ways to engage with WHO above and beyond those which already exist.
