I began my career as a Scaffold Labourer at the age of 19 at Sky Scaffolding, where I eventually progressed to be a scaffolder. Here I developed my knowledge of scaffolding and earned qualifications in the form of my CISRS Part 1 & 2 in Layher whilst also working with tube and fitting. In 2022, I began working in the mining environment at the Woodsmith Project in Sneaton and quickly realised my interest in the whole concept of mining, tunnelling and sinking shafts. I started off at the mine as a scaffolder for Access Group - which is where I earned my CISRS Part 1 in Tube & Fitting. I really enjoyed my time with Access - although I did want to become more involved with the mining elements of Woodsmith.In January 2024, I changed roles at the Woodsmith Project and started my job with Redpath Deilmann as a Winder Operative. This job involved operating both Siemag Tecberg and OLKO-Maschinentechnik hoists; understanding the HMI, Obstructions and Safety Function screens along with having a sound understanding of the PLC and safety trips that come with them. I am now directly involved with the sinking of the shafts.
