Candelis™ is a medical informatics company that develops innovative, cost-effective solutions for the healthcare IT industry specifically focused on image visualization, workflow, archival and reporting. Candelis provides these solutions in the areas of Mammography, Radiation Therapy/Oncology and General Radiology to hospitals, imaging centers and clinics.While at Candelis, I designed, developed and managed its mission critical data storage products for its 'state of the art' cloud-hosted medical image and report sharing services. I also helped bring to market many of the company's first medical image archiving systems. This work included developing and publishing its first iPhone and iPad (iOS) Apps for remotely accessing its cloud based medical image storage services/archives, along with developing its RAID controller firmware, user software utilities, ASICs, FPGAs, disk arrays and overall system architecture.

While at Procom, a NAS product leader, I was promoted to VP of Engineering and managed the Engineering, Quality assurance, and Customer support teams during the company's successful acquisition by Sun Microsystems.I was also responsible for all of the company's software applications (including its mobile apps), RAID controller firmware, disk arrays and NAS hardware design.

Prior to its acquisition by Sun Microsystems, I designed, manufactured, and marketed a full line of enterprise class, network attached storage (NAS) appliances. These high performance systems competed successfully with products offered by EMC™, NetApp™, Dell™ and IBM™.While at Procom, I directed new product development and managed major product upgrades for the company's popular NAS file server products (RAID based). I also managed & directed the company's Customer Support and SW/FW/HW Engineering departments, while managing the company's 50+ development engineers. This work included responsibility for all of the NAS firmware development projects.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM Japan, ADTX designed and manufactured affordable data storage products, such as SCSI/SATA/FC RAID data storage systems, data mirroring drives and multimedia storage devices. ADTX SATA RAID systems offered "Best in Class" storage products with fibre channel, or SCSI interfaces, for SAN and DAS (Direct Attached Storage) applications. ADTX also offered the first IDE / ATA based RAID systems to be marketed. The company grew rapidly and was publicly traded on NASDAQ Japan with over 200 employees worldwide and 2004 sales of over $100 Million.While at ADTX, I collaborated with corporate executives in Fujisawa & Yokohama, Japan to open their first USA headquarters in Irvine, CA. I directed new product development, created and managed the company's local marketing programs, managed business unit budgets and staffing requirements for its success in the US marketplace. On the tech side, I designed many of the company's RAID controllers, related disk firmware, and user oriented utility applications.

I dramatically Increased software revenue through new OEM partnerships, product enhancements, improved market awareness, re-prioritizing development projects and launching new customer support services.My work also included developing the company's latest RAID controllers, its associated firmware, and customer facing utility applications.

My business partner (the late Charles M. McConathy), and I, grew this 2 person startup (an Apple data storage products company) into a market leader, and Apple OEM supplier, with 175 employees and $93M in annual revenue. While at Micronet, I authored 3 software and hardware US patents (granted) and received 2 consecutive 'Apple Storage Product of the Year awards' in 1990 & 1991, from Mac User and Mac World magazines.I also designed&developed all of the company's 'custom' disk drive firmware, SCSI/FC HBAs, HBA firmware, and early SSD/RAID/Thumb drive data storage products.

While at CMS, a public company, I created, and successfully brought to market, the company's first Apple data storage product lines (HDA's, HBA'a, firmware, and management software utilities). This included developing many HBAs, ASIC's, FPGA's and storage management software utility programs. The revenue from these new products grew from $0 to $100M within 2 years. This product success positioned the company as the largest provider of data storage related products in the Apple marketplace.
