Within the Lanaken Mill, one of the leading manufacturing plants for high-quality fine coated paper for offset printing within Sappi Europa, in charge of the maintenance activities on the two Paper fabrication lines, the Pulp factory and the Waste Water Treatment installation.Together with a team of about 100 technicians, supervisors and maintenance engineers, preparation, planning and execution of daily maintenance, planned and unplanned stops and periodic outages in close partnership with the Operations Department. Based on difficult historical background of the plant, driving improvement plans on internal audits and legal compliance checks. In charge of the overall operations of the Nuclear, Conventional and Renewable electricity generating units in Belgium & Luxembourg, including all purchase-activities for Electrabel (Generation, Marketing&Sales, HeadQuarter) in Belgium and Luxembourg.Within a difficult external context in the electricity landscape, management of the profitability of the electricity generating assets of Electrabel ( >10 000 MW on more than 10 different sites, with 3 000 people).Specific challenges, in the technological area, as in the approach towards the people in the different businesses: - transformation of multiple gas-fired power stations to peak-load infrastructure, with impact on the operational staff;- closure of the Ruien thermal power plant in 2013 and reorientation of the staff;- investment decisions and financial optimization of wind-energy projects in Belgium- potential life time extension or final shut down of the first nuclear units Doel 1 and 2 and Tihange 1;- the Reactor Pressure Vessel analysis of Doel 3 and Tihange 2 with outstanding expert studies and a shutdown of the units of more than two years;- building and implementing a 200 M€-program on demand of the authorities to address the post-Fukushima action plan;Reporting to the CEO of Electrabel, member of the Executive Management Committee and involved in the strategical business decisions of the company.Active in the international WANO association (WANO is the international association of all nuclear operators worldwide) by active involvement in activities and initiatives such as peer reviews and technical support missions.

Provide leadership and overall management of Electrabel's nuclear power station of Tihange. Responsible for the safe operation of the three nuclear units (of 1000 MW each). In charge of the daily operation of the units and the annual outages, together with 150 engineers and senior managers, 850 highly qualified technicians and about 500 permanent contractors.Implementing the application of recent international standards within the nuclear industry, an outstanding continuous improvement program to prepare the future of the station (> 2015), which results in the successful completion in 2007 and 2009 of an international OSART-audit, managed by an IAEA-team and peer reviews realised by a WANO-team in 2009 and 2010.Most important KPI's of the station are : availability of the units, full cost of maintenance and operation (cost center approach), nuclear safety indicators (availability of safety equipments, zero-incident operation), industrial safety indicators (no accidents), staffing and training.Local management of social relations with the unions, own staff and contractors and suppliers, contacts with the external stakeholders (local political authorities, the nuclear regulator authority, local inhabitants, press), with full integration of the Group Engie-interest (functional relationship with Corporate responsibles). Reporting to the Director in charge of Nuclear and Conventional Generation within Electrabel.

Tihange Npp, Liège Area

Within the senior management team of Tihange NPP, responsible for the teams in charge of the daily maintenance activities, the overhauls and outages and of the operational improvement projects on the three units of the Tihange site.General management of the maintenance teams, providing leadership to 20 engineers and 250 technicians dedicated to the maintenance of the power plants in the area of mechanics, electricity, I&C, infrastructure, welding, facility management, quality control and planning. Specific attention to the performance of a high nuclear safety and industrial safety culture.Reporting directly to the site manager; dealing with human resources management for the site, and preparation and definition of strategical decisions to ensure the future of the station.

Genk, Mol (Vlaanderen)

Responsible for the teams in charge of the maintenance activities on the two 115 MW coal-fired power plants of Mol, the two 250 MW units of Langerlo and of the Cogen-units of Industrial Giant Customers in the north-eastern region of Belgium.Responsible for the overall management of the Maintenance department, working as a service-provider to the Operations department : budgeting, preparation and performance of maintenance activities in the mechanical, electrical and I&C area, optimization of the maintenance programs, oversight and KPI-follow-up, local HR-management and relations with the social partners.Launch of a high developed industrial safety culture (change plan which resulted in 2001 in the VCA**-certification for the maintenance organization).Preparing the organization to the full liberalization of the energy market by permanently optimizing the financial and human resources needed for adequate running of the units (important reduction of the maintenance budget and staff over the 5 years)..

Within a team of 2 engineers and 40 technicians, responsible for the overall management (technical, financial, nuclear safety and people) of the department in charge of nuclear safety, chemistry, industrial safety and radioprotection of Unit 2.Together with the teams (a team of 15 chemical technicians, 25 people in the radioprotection and industrial safety department - people working in a 24h staffing schedule) in charge of the operational activities, the preparation and the performance of the annual outage of the unit.As Expert Class 1 (formal mandatory function within the Belgian nuclear regulation), in charge of the Nuclear safety advise section of Unit 2, including the transport activities of material for the Tihange site.Reporting to the Unit 2 Plant Director.
