Education, to me, means more than just a transference of knowledge. It is about bringing others on a journey of self-discovery and growth in a safe and conducive environment. It is about listening to what they know and challenging them to embrace what they don't know and to make sense of it. It is about planting new ideas and perspectives and allowing them to take new paths. I get a great kick out of making complex things simple and making finance and financial literacy relevant to everybody. Not many experiences beat the joy of watching an "aha" moment on someone's face. In my years of teaching experience with the university, I've been told by students that I am extremely approachable and supportive, crystal clear in my explanations, have a great sense of humour and very engaging as a public speaker. My colleagues tell me that I am a great collaborator, independent and a very dependable and helpful co-worker. I love to teach, mentor and help young people. I also hope to further develop myself as a mental wellness advocate so as to better support learning journeys and strengthen resilience in our young people today.
