I have over 30 years of professional experience working in private and public sectors as a bridge and road design engineer, project manager, design manager and a team leader. While I feel most confident with street and highway projects, I have also made difference in aviation, transport and spatial planning, ports and development assignments. I like technical challenges and puzzle games. Having knowledge and hands-on experience in several disciplines I believe I can see the larger scope of road transport projects considering user experience, usability, safety, aesthetics, constructability and life-cycle economics.Sustainable Safe Road Design is the set of principles that I apply in my daily work when creating road environment for all road users. I always question the standards and manuals since history has proved they are outdated the day they are released. Many of our cities have been made revolting highways and parking lots by blindly following the standards and forgetting about the people. Nerd as I am always looking for ways to get the best out of computer systems and information I am an early adopter of new technologies. I have been leading model-based civil design process development (use of BIM) in Ramboll Estonia and recently in Ramboll Middle East. Together with my project teams, we were the first in the World to apply innovative mobile positioning method in several road projects to get accurate origin-destination matrices by utilising location information from mobile network carriers, in short doing the mobile positioning.
