I designed an FPGA-based spectrometer/correlator and worked with a team to integrate it into a three-telescope infrared interferometer at the Mount Wilson Observatory to observe gas flow on Betelgeuse.I built my system around a Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA, using DSP48 blocks to optimize FFT and filter performance, and I used C and Python for high-speed networked data readout.
